The Club Aims
Saturday / holiday club for Dyspraxic children. To promote self-esteem, build confidence and increase social integration. This will in turn promote a higher level of educational success, reducing truancy, drug taking, criminal behaviour and offending in teenage years and beyond.
We aim to provide activities to teach Life Skills,
Social Awareness, Independent Living and Social
Integration, through role-play, Physical Activities,
Games, Music, Drama, Dance and the opportunity
to meet one another. We aim to reduce the emotional
impact of the condition and lessen the failure
cycle. In turn this will reduce Stress, Depression
and Behavioural Problems, both as children
and in the future, as adults.
To increase Interaction
between parent and child by encouraging parental
involvement and supervision within group activities.
Promote a greater understanding of the condition
and develop strategies for coping with practical
daily living. Offer an information and support
service for parents/carers. This in turn will
have a positive effect on alleviating stress
and anxiety within the whole family.
To provide an opportunity for youngsters and
teenagers to meet and openly converse, on subjects
that concern them, in caring, non-judgemental
environment. To have access to information on
healthy lifestyles and contraception, emotional
support and how to avoid stress and depression,
as well as practical advice on coping with School
Work.
